The Ford Escape returns for 2017 with multiple significant updates. The exterior receives a freshening, while the interior benefits from various upgrades. Improved center console with a push-button electric parking brake and repositioned gear shifter, redesigns to the glove box and cupholders, additional storage bins, a media bin added to the center stack, improved controls on a new steering wheel, and redesigned and improved surfaces throughout. Two new-to-the-model powertrains are available on SE and Titanium trims: a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder 181 hp EcoBoost and a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged 245 hp EcoBoost, both with standard Auto Start/Stop technology. Newly available technologies for 2017 will include SYNC® Connect mobile access including remote lock, adaptive cruise control with brake support and collision warning, unlock and locate, lane-keeping assist and active lane-keep aid, plus Enhanced Active Park Assist and a driver alert system.
