Volvo announced that it will introduce an all-wheel drive system for the current V40 Cross Country model.

This comes after the new Drive-E powertrain with a 245 hp petrol turbo T5 engine was made available in the range. The new unit has a 2.0 liters capacity and features 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque managed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel, found on the options list.

The new engine has some impressive performances for the T5 when it comes to efficiency. The new powertrain reduces emissions to an impressive 149 g/km.

Volvo Cars is continuing to evolve the V40 Cross Country with this powertrain upgrade. The combination of the Drive-E T5 engine with AWD will give adventurous customers the power to explore, and all the control they need to be confident in all road conditions,” says Dr. Peter Mertens, Senior Vice President Research & Development at Volvo Cars.

The Volvo V40 Cross Country will be available in Europe mid-Fall and other markets following. Unfortunatly, the V40 is not available in the states.
