The Swedish car maker Volvo is looking for a partner to co-develop a new platform designated for a new electric or hybrid supermini model. This decision comes after the good sales of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid.
For now, Volvo announced that it will boost V60 Plug-in Hybrid production from 1.000 units per year to 4.000 to 6.000 cars. As you know, the Swedish model is manufactured in Torslanda factory in Gothenburg.
These infos were confirmed by Lex Kerssemakers, Volvo head of product planning.
There is also good news for Volvo fans. The Swedish car maker and its owner Geely will come in 2015 with a modular platform. Dubbed Scalable Platform Architecture, this structure will be used for the entire lineup, including the next generation of XC90 and S60.
