Volkswagen
today introduced the all new Lamando model, during Chengdu Motor Show,
currently in progress in China.

The new sedan is based on the MQB
platform, so it is not a simple version of the Sagitar, the Chinese spec
of the current Jetta. Built on the newest platform inside Volkswagen
Group means that the car will share most of its components with the
seventh generation Volkswagen Golf and with the new Skoda Octavia.
It
will have naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol units already
found on the models regarded above. Shanghai-Volkswagen joint-venture
will be in charged with local production inside a factory to be
announced.

Prices will start at 180,000 Yuan, which can be translated
into $29,000 USD. The car will address young clients who are looking for a
practical sedan and can not afford the Current Passat. To attract this
kind of buyers, the Lamando will have a coupe silhouette and a more
aggressive design than the current Jetta.
The new model also offers us a
glimpse at the future NMC concept, set to reach US market at the end of
this year.
