This next video from AutoExpress creates a new vs old battle in which the Renault Megane 250 Cup is tested against the previous generation R26R, from which it takes most of its personality, on a twisty road track.
We’ll let the footage do the talking, but before hitting play, here are the some performance figures and specs for both these hot hatches.
The Renault Megane R26R uses a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 230 HP @ 5,500 rpm and 229 lb-ft of torque @ 3,000 rpm. Power is sends to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a limited slip differential is also standard. The Renault R26R which weights 1230 Kg takes 6.0 seconds to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) and reach a top speed of 147 mph.
The Megane Sport 250 Cup also uses a 2.0-litre engine with twin scroll turbo, which is rated at 250 HP and 340 Nm of torque @ 3,000 rpm. The car weights 150 Kg more than the R26R and on paper it takes just under 6.0 seconds to reach 62 mph from a stand still.
