If you consider buying the new VW Golf R but you’re not quite sure which version to choose then this following video might make your decision easier as the journalist from Autocar compares the DSG variant vs the manual.
After three 0 to 60 acceleration tests the VW Golf R manual averaged 6.43 seconds where as the manufacturer claims it can do 0 to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds.
As for the VW Golf R DSG all three trials ended up with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 5.7 seconds (VW claim 0 to 62 mph – 5.5 sec).
So the conclusion is : the VW Golf R DSG is almost a second faster than the manual version, not to mention a bit more efficient, so we have to agree that the 1,300 GBP price difference between the two is definitely worth it.
