Top Gear is always in the sport light, and when it’s not about some new super car being reviewed or some sort of crazy stunt, it is about insulting and offending members of a nationality…in this case pretty much a whole country, and that is Mexico.
While discussing the Mexican built Mastretta MXT, the Top Gear’s host Richard Hammond said that "Mexican cars are just going to be a lazy, feckless, flatulent, oaf with a
moustache leaning against a fence, asleep, looking at a cactus with a
blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat".
The jokes continued with James May and Hammond calling Mexican food ‘refired sick with cheese on it’.
Of-course Clarkson also had to play his insulting role by saying that BBC is not worried about receiving complaints from the Mexican ambassador, as he is most likely asleep.
But he was wrong, as the Mexican ambassador in UK issued a letter to which was cited by The Telegraph in which he stated "It is utterly incomprehensible and unacceptable that the premiere
broadcaster should allow three of its presenters to display their
bigotry and ignorance by mocking the people and culture of our country
with such vehemence".
