Porsche wants to prove that its future 918 Spyder has a Nurburgring time of just 7 minutes and 14 seconds. For this, the Stuttgart-based manufacturer offered today a video featuring Porsches 918 Spyder performance on the Green Hell.
Porsche also wants to demonstrate that the car features street-legal tires and it is equipped with Weissach package, available on the production model.
What really separates the 918 Spyder from all Porsche models is the plug-in hybrid driveline. This links a mid-mounted, 4.6-liter V8, developing 570PS and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, driving the rear wheels, to a pair of electric motors.
One of the electric motors is rated at 107hp and drives the front wheels, while the second delivers 121 horsepower and is mounted in the gearbox housing, turning the rear wheels.
Porsche claims that the 918 Spyder will be significantly faster than the Carrera GT, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than three seconds.
