MotorTrend wanted to see which of these three sports cars is faster on a straight line, so they created a drag race between the 2012 GTR vs the 2011 Corvette Z06 and the 2011 Shelby GT500.
For some of you the outcome could be predictable, but we won’t say more, except mention the specs for each of these performance coupes.
The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 uses a supercharged 5.4-litre V8 producing 550 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque which spins the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmissions. The 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 weights 3,801 lbs and the model featured in this test costs 55,330 USD.
The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 extracts its juice from a 7.0-litre LS7 V8 packing 505 horses and 470 lb-ft of torque. This too is a rear wheel drive car which uses a six-speed manual gearbox. The 2011 Corvette Z06 tips the scale at 3,253 lbs, and the price for this particular version appearing in this video is 98,010 USD.
As for the 2012 Nissan GTR, the 3.8-litre TwinTurbo V6 from under its bonnet produces 530 HP and 448 lb-ft of torque. Power is put to the ground in a more advanced way, and we are talking about a 6-speed twin clutch automatic transmission connected to an all-wheel-drive system. The 2012 Nissan GTR weights 3,898 lbs and it costs 90,950 USD.
