In the latest episode from FifthGear, Tiff and Jason test two of the fastest performance coupes money can buy : the 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S against the 2012 Nissan GTR.
These two arch enemies are first put head to head in a drag race in which the 911 Turbo S scores one point after crossing the line first at 100 mph, even though from 0 to 62 mph is was the 2012 GTR who was faster due to its shorter low gear shift times.
The second test in which these two 530 HP sports cars compete against each other involves lapping the test track and measuring lateral G force. This time it was the 70,000 GBP 2012 Nissan GTR who won as it ‘scored’ 1.09 G vs the 1.07 G measured in the 125,000 GBP 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
So which of these two was crowned king of the high tech supercars? well before finding out, Tiff and Jason has to take the Porsche and the Nissan around the track for a two lap race. In the end it was the 911 Turbo S who managed to cross the finish line almost 1 second ahead of the GTR. Nevertheless FifihGear agrees that the 2012 GTR is an astonishing high speed bargain.
