Opel’s British arm announced yesterday that a new important step has been passed as production for Vauxhall Ampera has started with the first pre-production unit rolling off GM’s Pre-Production Operations’ assembly line in Warren, Michigan.
In the following moths more Vauxhall Ampera’s will get built and be tested by engineers in Europe and US, as the automaker will focus on the vehicle’s final adjustments, concentrating on the car’s software and driving characteristics.
The Vauxhall Ampera is an extended-range electric vehicle that is able to cover up to 40 miles by only running on electricity. The Vauxhall Ampera is also fitted with an engine generator that charges the battery, and this way the car is able to cover more that 300 miles.
UK dealership arrival for the Vauxhall Ampera is scheduled for early 2012.
