Last year during Geneva Motor Show, Vauxhall unveiled the Adam Grand Slam S, a top of the range version, that benefit from special customization and a powerful engine under the bonnet. Vauxhall targeting the current Fiat 500 Abarth, features a new 1.4-litre Turbo delivering 150 hp ECOTEC with 220 Nm of torque.
It features a specific power output exceeding 100 hp/litre. It is a turbocharged, high performance unit derived from the ADAM’s existing four-cylinder, 1.4-litre engine. It delivers 70 percent more torque and 50 percent more power than its naturally-aspirated 1.4-litre stablemate and propels the Grand Slam from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.5 seconds to a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).
The 1.4-litre Turbo engine is fitted with Start/Stop technology and meets stringent Euro 6 emission standards. The fuel consumption achieves 4.92 l/100 km (47.8 mpg) combined and emits 139 g/km CO2.
The compound crank rear axle has been uprated, as have all the springs and dampers. Drivers can also deactivate the Electronic Stability Program (ESP Plus) at the touch of a button on the centre console. The braking system, featuring red bespoke brake calipers, comes from the previous generation Corsa OPC. It features 308mm ventilated discs at the front and 264 mm discs at the rear.
The new Vauxhall Grand Slam will reach UK showrooms from March with prices starting from £16,995 on-the-road.
