The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a series of violent public service announcement clips regarding the dangers of distracted driving. The new campaign has a very good slogan: U Drive. U Text. U Pay.

Thanks to this new campaign NHTSA is trying to get everyone’s attention about the dangers of distracted driving. You will see that the attached video are almost identical, but with a different ending. They will show you several young people in a car being exposed to the dangers of distracted driving.

Some of you might find these videos a bit too brutal, but you also should know that an NHTSA report says 3,328 people were killed and 421,000 were injured in 2012 due to distracted driving.

The good news is similar PSAs along with federally-funded enforcement programs lowered (observed) hand-held phone use from 4.1 to 2.7 percent in California and from 4.5 to 3 percent in Delaware.
