Toyota UK has launched a new 2.8-liter D-4D engine for the Land Cruiser. The new unit can be ordered in both three- and five-door body styles. The new engine replaces the old 3.0 liter diesel and has a better fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. 

The new 16-valve DOHC engine has a 2,755 cc displacement and can deliver 174 bhp (130 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. It is linked to a six speed manual gearbox but it can also be ordered with a six-seed that can granted a 332 lb-ft (450 Nm). 

With the automatic transmission, the Toyota Land Cruiser 2.8-liter D-4D five-door version can return 39.2 mpg UK (32.6 mpg US or 7.2 liters / 100 km) and will emit 194 g/km.

But the new Land Cruiser comes in standard with DAB digital Radio, a Toyota Touch 2 with Go touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. If you will pick the Icon variant you will get the Toyota Touch 2 with Go Plus with text-to-speech function, voice command recognition and 3D city mapping.

In the safety zone, the Land Cruiser comes with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Change Assist, Pre-Crash Safety, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Multi-Terrain Monitor.

The car can be ordered starting July 1 and the entry-level version comes for £35,895.
