BBC has announced that the new Top Gear season will come with a special surprise. Set to complement the new Top Gear, the show will be hosted by Rory Reid and will be named Extra Gear.
According to Rory Reid, the Extra Gear will be aired on BBC Three right after Top Gear has aired on BBC Two. It is described as a behind-the-scenes series of Top Gear and will bring 30 minutes of bonus footage, interviews and special clips recorded only for this new show.
The Extra Gear will be recorded in the same Top Gear studio and according to the British TV station it will also be aired on BBC America as well as BBC Brit.
“The Top Gear fans are some of the keenest in the world and with this show I’m giving them a chance to really get a peek behind the curtain. I’m looking forward to showing them how the show is made and what goes on behind the scenes, giving viewers a different perspective on some of the coolest cars on the planet”, said Rory Reid about the new Extra Gear show.
More than that a few hours before this announcement, Clarkson, May, and Hammond have told us that they are working on a new and special digital platform called DriveTribe.
The new Top Gear season will start on May 22 while the unnamed show made by Clarkson, May, and Hammond for Amazon will have its premiere in fall.
