BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer has been officially unveiled during a special event. The new German model is described as the world’s first premium compact model to offer up to seven seats. As you already guessed, the car is an evolution of the 2-Series Active Tourer and represents the family version of it.
 
Exterior

On the outside, we see the same exterior cues found on the 2-Series Active Tourer but there are a few differences at the rear part. According to the German car manufacturer, the new BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer can accommodate up to 1,905 liters of luggage with the seats folded down.
 
Engines

Under the hood, the new BMW 2-Series Gran Tourer will come with five different engines. The entry-level will be the 218i which comes with a 1.5 liter TwinTurbo Power unit that has 3 cylinders and 136 HP. It enables the car to run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 9.5 seconds, while the top speed is clocked at 205 km/h (127 mph).
 
The next on the lineup is the 220i Gran Tourer that delivers 192 HP and 280 Nm of torque. On the diesel side customers will find the 216d with 116 HP, the 218d with 150 HP and the 220d xDrive. It comes with the 2,0 liter unit that can deliver 190 HP and 400 Nm peak of torque.
