Opel has a new generation Astra. It is brand new and it is built on the same platform as the new Peugeot 308. The German hatchback will be available starting this year and it has a new face.

On the front part of the car we see the Opel “Visor” detail, which I’m sure you have spotted since the launch of the new Mokka SUV. Inside the cabin, there are also some Mokka touches, as the new Astra features the Pure Panel, a feature that incorporates both the instrument panel and the central display into a single unit.

Since the new Opel Astra is based on the same platform as the Peugeot 308, both cars share the same engine line-up. The 2022 Opel Astra will be equipped with a 1.2 liter petrol unit with 110 and 130 horsepower and a 1.6 diesel unit with 130 horsepower.

A first for the new hatchback is the plug-in hybrid versions. There are two of them and both use a petrol unit and an electric motor for a total of 180 HP or 225 HP. The electric range should be enough for more than 50 kilometers (31 miles).
