Subaru has just announced the fact that it will treat its home market / Japan with a special performance edition limited to 300 exemplars called the Impreza WRX STI S206.
The latest variation of the STI’s S series is based on the 4-door Impreza WRX STI and follows previous models such as the S204 and the R205.
The car is equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers, STI coil springs, a flexible tower bar and a flexible draw stiffener at the front plus 19 inch BBS aluminium wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
These upgrades which are meant to make the S206 faster during cornering are complemented by a series of engine tweaks which include a ball bearing turbocharger, an STI tuned ECU and an optimized weight balance between the pistons, connection rod and crankshaft.
The Subaru Impreza WRX STI S206 has also been fitted with a sports muffler and a less restrictive exhaust, and the result in an increased output reaching 320 horsepower (235 kW) and 431 Nm of torque.
On the outside the WRX STI S206 features redesigned spoilers which are now positioned lower, a new grille while the interior received a lather wrapped steering wheel, RECARO bucket seats and seatbelts and a push engine start button.
Subaru has also developed a special NBR Challenge Package for the WRX STI S206 as a reminder of their class win at the 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance achieved back in June.
The NBR Challenge Package which is limited to 100 exemplars adds various carbon fiber components and new stickers.
