SsangYong has pulled the wraps of their SsangYong XIV 1 concept today in Frankfurt, and according to them, the car represents their vision of the next generation compact crossover.
Derived from the the phrase "eXciting
user Interface Vehicle", the XIV 1 combines the characteristics of a robust SUV with affordable running costs and with various features that are meant to maximise the drivers interaction.
SsangYong says the XIV 1 is not just a connect as it will lead to a mass produced model in the future, and it also points to where the company is heading in terms of design.
The philosophy behind the SsangYong XIV 1 is "Robust, Specialist, Premium" and this can been seen in the design, which was inspired from a sailing yacht. Some of the features include the wide C-pillar and the slim roof which appear to float above the body, as well as the dynamic looking front with the LED headlights, and the coach doors which give access to the interior.
And speaking of the interior the automaker says passengers inside the SsangYong XIV 1can move back and forth and also rotate all four seats through 360 degrees. The design of the dash is highlighted by the use of aluminium, while the control of many of the car’s functions is done interaction of Smart mobiles.
The SsangYong XIV 1 measures 4,140 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,590 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Power can be extracted from wither a 1.6-litre petrol or a 1.6-litre diesel both mated to either manual or automatic 6-speed transmissions. The power levels for those engines were not mentioned.
