Smart decided to preview their new ‘For-Us’ urban pickup concept through a couple of sketches before the official unveiling day at the Detroit Motor Show.
Designed for people living active lives who care about low emissions and occupying minimum road space, the Smart For-Us is a ‘practical loading concept of a pickup’ which measures 3,547 mm in length, 1,506 mm in width and 1,701 mm in height.
Its cargo area measures 900 mm and Smart says the concept also features a tailboard which retracts by 280 mm in order to allow the tailgate to slide down in a parallel position.
The Smart For-Us uses a zero emission magneto-electric motor for its propulsion, rated at 55 kW (75 HP) and 130 Nm of torque which enables the concept to reach top speed in excess of 120 Km/h. The motor is backed by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.6 kWh.
