When you’re paying upwards for a car (especially one that costs 400.000$), you don’t expect a recall. Unfortunately for the owners of some Rolls-Royce Phantom models it seems that the cars may be missing a safety component.
According to the automaker, certain 2013MY Phantom vehicles manufactured between November 2, 2012 and January 18, 2013, may lack anti-misfueling devices mounted on their fuel-filler necks.
What exactly is an anti-misfueling device? When you are filling up the gas tank, this device prevents from overfilling and it also discharges any static electricity suring the filling.
"Without the anti-misfueling device, there is an increased risk of fire from static electricity," Rolls-Royce told the NHTSA.
Until now it seems that the recall affects 27 cars from the USA. Of course since it was the company’s mistake the owners won’t have to pay for any affected fuel filler necks.
