Renault launched today the new Renaultsport R.S.01, a track-designed car, inspired by previous concepts and led by aerodynamic studies conducted in a wind tunnel.

Designed under the management of Laurens van den Acker, Renault chief-designer, Renaultsport R.S. 01 displays a prominent logo, a width of 2,000 mm, a height of 1,116 mm, a signature of the LED daytime-running lights positioned along the brake cooling scoops.

The low-slung profile is characteristic of a GT with a central rear engine and an architecture that optimises the weight distribution. The rear diffuser “pushes”’ Renaultsport R.S. 01 to the track and creates no drag.

Built with a carbon monocoque and many lightweight materials, the Renaultsport R.S.01 tips the scale at just 110 kilograms. This low weight is associated with a new petrol engine, developing 500 hp. This formula help the car reach a top speed of 300 km/h.

To stop the monster, the braking system combines 380 mm carbon discs from PFC Brakes with six-piston calipers and Bosch Motorsport ABS.

Starting with 2015, the Renaultsport R.S. 01 will run for World Series by Renault in a new championship, the Renaultsport Trophy.
