Renault has officially unveiled their 2016 Formula 1 car. Named RS16 the Formula 1 model was painted in black-and-yellow livery and it represents a new era for the French car manufacturer.
Renault’s decision to return to Formula 1 with a new outfit came after a deep evaluation of its last year programme. And Renault felt that despite previous title success as engine partner to Red Bull had not maximized the impact. The only solution was to get its own team in the game.
In order to do that, the French car manufacturer bought back the Lotus outfit. But to compete in Formula 1 you need a strong team and good racing drivers. And Renault had found Kevin Magnussen which will race alongside Jolyon Palmer in 2016 Formula 1 championship. As a result, Pastor Maldonado is out.
Frederic Vasseur was also confirmed as Racing Director for the new team, while Bob Bell, who left Manor in October, was announced as Chief Technical Officer. For now it sounds good but we need to see if Renault will manage to beat the mighty Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS and its dream team drivers.
