Mazda started production of the all-new Mazda CX-5 at Ujina Plant No. 2 nearthe company’s global headquarters in Hiroshima. As you may have read, the second generation Mazda CX-5 was recently unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. In Japan, the model will go on sale starting February 2017.

The second generation of the compact crossover comes with many technological changes and just a few aesthetic modifications. As a first for the CX-5, the new generation will offer the SKYACTIV-D 2.2 clean diesel engine from the second half of 2017. It will also be Mazda’s first diesel engine model in the North American market.

The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 to be fitted in the all-new CX-5 for North America will meet the region’s strict emission standards and make the all-new CX-5 one of the most fuel-efficient vehicles in its class. The engine also adopts Natural Sound Smoother and Natural Sound Frequency Control, proprietary technologies that reduce diesel knock for a quieter interior.

Mazda is aiming with the all-new CX-5 for a new dimension of driving pleasure for everyone on board, and not just the driver. Therefore, in addition to delivering responsiveness that corresponds to driver expectations, the carmaker also prioritized passenger comfort in the quiet and finely crafted cabin.
