The latest Black Edition Porsche coming out of Stuttgart is based on the Cayman S. The automaker’s special edition mid engine coupe will be limited to 500 exemplars, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in July, 2011.
Powered by the same 3.4-litre 6-cylinder boxer engine, the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition delivers an additional 10 HP (7 kW) and a total of 330 HP (243 kW) at 7,400 rpm while its maximum torque remains at 370 Nm at 4,750 rpm.
Depending on transmission the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition can sprint from 0 to 100 Km/h in either 5.1 seconds when equipped with the 6-speed manual or in 5.0 seconds flat when chosen with the optional PDK. This time can be further improved to 4.8 seconds when the the car is fitted with the optional Sport Chrono package and Launch Control is activated. Top speed is 279 Km/h (173 mph) for the manual version and 277 Km/h (172 mph) with the PDK.
Some of the special features added on the Porsche Cayman S Black Edition include 19 inch black alloys wrapped in tires size 235/35 ZR 19s at the front and 265/35 ZR 19s at the rear, Bi-Xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensors. The interior received partial leather seats, a Sport Design steering wheel, black trim across the dashboard and gear level and instrument dials, the and Black Edition logo emblazoned on the entry guards.
The Porsche Cayman S Black Edition price starts at 67,807 Euro in Germany and at 50,420 GBP in the UK.
