Official photos and details with the Peugeot RCZ were released today by the French automaker, ahead of it’s public debut scheduled for this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
A choice of three powerplants will be available for the Peugeot RCZ, with the most powerful being the petrol burning turbocharged 1.6-litre THP that can unleash 200 HP at 5,000 rpm and 188 lb-ft of torque at 1,700 rpm. This engine, which is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, enables the Peugeot RCZ to sprint from 0 to 100 Km/h (62 mph) in 7.6 seconds, while fuel consumption figures indicate that 7.1 litre of fuel are needed to cover 100 Km (33.1 mpg US) and 175 grams of CO2 are released per Km.
The other two engines that can power the Peugeot RCZ are a direct-injection turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel that can develop 156 HP and 163 HP respectively. These engines manage to offer 34.1 mpg and 43.6 mpg and while the petrol version is offered with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions, the diesel only comes with manual.
Standard equipment includes hydraulic power steering, ESP and Hill Assist, and as the Peugeot RCZ 2+2 sports coupe is expected to go on sale in spring 2010 it seems the Audi TT will have a real competitor.
