Peugeot has officially unveiled the 2016-spec 2008 DKR model which now comes in Red Bull livery. More than that, the French model also features a heavily modified body.
The car has been widened by 167 mm (now at 2200 mm), lowered by 118 mm (at 1794 mm), and lengthened by 185 mm (at 4284 mm). Even though we are talking about bigger dimensions, the front and rear overhangs have been shortened. As a result, the wheelbase is longer by 200 millimeters.
On the exterior we see special 17-inch magnesium one-piece wheels wrapped in Michelin 37/12,5×17 tires that are now lighter.
Under the hood of the Peugeot 2016 Dakar model is a V6 3.2 liter bi-turbodiesel engine that can deliver 350 horsepower and 800 Nm peak of torque. As you can see, the unit has 10 HM and 212 Nm more than the previous car. Unfortunately the 2008 DKR remains a two-wheel drive rally car with a longitudinally-mounted six-speed manual sequential gearbox.
Behind the wheels of the new Peugeot 2016 Dakar model will be Sébastien Loeb, Stéphane Peterhansel, Cyril Despres, and Carlos Sainz.
