Volvo S40 DRIVe Green Car of the Year
Volvo has just announced that their S40 DRIVe model has been awarded the Green Car of the Year title at the 2009 What Car? Green Car Awards. Featuring the new Start/Stop system the Volvo S40 1.6D DRIVe is able to run in a very “clean manner” releasing just 104g/Km of CO2 and keeping consumption as low as 3.9 litres per 100 Km. What Car’s editor Steve Fowler said that the Volvo’s S40 DRIVe is one seriously appealing eco-friendly car. Tata Nano priced at $2300 in US by 2011
The world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano priced at about $2,300 on the European market is apparently coming to US by 2011. The news was made public by Ratan Tata who revealed the fact that in the next two years Tata Motors are planing to build the Nano in compliance with the US emission and crash standards. The Tata Nano offers reduced fuel consumption (65 mph) and its price is so low thanks to cheap labor. GM will stop producing Chevy Kodiak and GMC Topkick
After filling for bankruptcy earlier this month GM announced in a small press release today that it will stop producing the Chevy Kodiak and GMC Topkick by July 31 2009. The decision to terminate the Chevy Kodiak and GMC Topkick and wind-down its medium duty truk operations was taken after the company has failed in finding a buyer for the above mentioned division. US based tuner Switzer Performance has revealed their latest custom-ready performance packages for the 2008 Porsche GT2. These packages vary from a simple software revision to a more comprehensive $39,000 deal that can bring a 800 hp custom Porsche GT2 in your garage. So if you wonder how it was made possible, the complany explains that for the Switzer Porsche 911 GT2 they have upgraded the Garret GT30R-based turbochargers that are now able to compress massive amounts of air and the heat that is generated as a result is channeled to the engine through Switzer’s own MONSTER intercoolers. VW has released a new set of photos and details with its 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTD model. The low fuel consuming 2010 Volkswagen Golf GTD was introduced in Leipzig this year and is powered by a 170 PS (125 kW) diesel unit that offers 350 Nm of torque and needs as little as 5.3 litres of fuel on a 100 km travel, and the company says it is their highest-performance production Golf equipped with a diesel. ABT Sportsline tuning company turns 50
The German tuning company ABT Sportsline is close to its 50th anniversary and a special event is being prepared that will properly celebrate 50 years of customizing cars from the Volkswagen group. Need for Speed SHIFT trailer videos
At this year’s E3 gaming Expo in Las Vegas, EA Games has presented a set of trailer videos with the new Need for Speed SHIFT. As opposed to the previous versions that were having players concentrate more on car customization, the new Need for Speed SHIFT promises to be a true racing simulator. After a large number of spy photos and then a series of official photos with BMW’s new X1 prototype covered in camouflage have emerged, the Bavarian automaker decided it is time to release these BMW X1 teaser images. As usual with teaser images they do not reveal to much but the important message that is sent trough them is that the new BMW X1 is close to its world debut.
