2012 Jaguar XF facelift
Jaguar’s facelift version compact saloon, the 2012 XF has premiered at the 2011 New York International Auto Show, with the company realising photos and already specifying pricing for the British market.
According to the automaker, the 2012 Jaguar XF draws its inspiration from the XJ, and features an all new front end with slim new headlights incorporating distinctive LED lighting strips, a revised grille sitting more upright, a new bonnet, a redesigned bumper and new tail lamps with new LEDs.
At the interior the 2012 Jaguar XF received a new steering wheel, revised switchgear for the ventilation system, new dial mounted screens and redesigned seats.
2012 Subaru Impreza – Photos and Details
The Japanese automaker has just unveiled the 4-door and 5-door versions 2012 Subaru Impreza in New York today, releasing photos and details with this new generation which looks ‘bolder’ and ‘more dynamic’.
Powered by an all new 2.0-litre Boxer engine developing 148 HP and fitted with a 5-speed manual transmission (second-generation Lineartronic CVT also available), the 2012 Subaru Impreza is now 30 percent more fuel efficient, with an estimated EPA rating of 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
Just like before, all 2012 Subaru Impreza models come with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard and besides the basic version, the automaker is offering four other equipment grades badges as Premium, Sport Premium, Limited and Sport Limited.
2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO
GM has also released details on the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO today, an high efficiency model featuring the eAssist technology which is able to return an estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO is fitted with a 2.4-litre Ecotec 4-cylinder plant and the ‘light electrification’ aAssist hybrid system composed from an electric motor generator and a lithium ion battery which will enable the new mid-size sedan to travel around 550 miles before having to stop at a gas station.
Scion FR-S Concept
Toyota has lifted the wraps off the Scion FR-S Concept in New York today, a sports coupe inspired from the AE86 which uses a 2.0-litre boxer engine placed at the front, and which sends power the the rear wheels, hence the name (FR-S Front engine Rear wheel, Sport).
According to the automaker the Scion FR-S Concept will represent the starting point for a new production model which will enter the market next year, so except from the wheels, mirrors and maybe the diffuser everything else will most likely remain the same.
2012 Honda Civic Price
As the production version 2012 Honda Civic has just debuted at the New York International Auto Show today, the Japanese has also announced its price. To be more exact the new Civic range being showcased in NY includes the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, the high-performance Civic Si Coupe, the gasoline-electric Civic Hybrid, the Civic Natural Gas and Civic HF.
The 2012 Honda Civic price starts at 15,605 USD for the base model which is the DX Coupe which means there is no change when compared to what the outgoing version costs. All Civic model comes with improved EPA fuel economy ratings, with the Civic Hybrid for example being able to return 44 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 revealed in New York
Chrysler has unveiled the second high performance model wearing the SRT8 badge in New York today, and this time we’re talking about the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. The SUV is equipped with the new 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine (the same found in the Chrysler 300 SRT8) which produces with around 40 horses more than the outgoing 6.1-litre HEMI V8, meaning 465 HP and 465 lb-ft of torque.
These increased figures turn the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 into one of the company’s fastest models ever built, and the SUV’s 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of 4.8 seconds represents the ‘magic’ number backing that claim.
Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible ISR
Bentley is introducing a second special edition model that celebrates the British automaker’s ice speed record which this time is called the Continental Supersports Convertible ISR.
The company claims this is the most potent and radically styled Bentley convertible ever made, with a 6-litre 12-cylinder W12 engine featuring the FlexFuel technology, producing 640 PS (631 bhp / 471 kW) and 800 NM of torque and spinning all four wheels via a Quickshift six-speed automatic transmission.
The extra power comes from various engine tweaks and new free-breathing air intake ducts, a new intercooler system and a new exhaust system and as a result sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible ISR takes 3.8 seconds (0 to 100 Km/h in 4.0 seconds) / 9.5 seconds to hit 100 mph (0 to 160 Km/h in 9.4 seconds).
Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition Revealed
The Germans from Opel thought that packing more power into the Corsa OPC wouldn’t harm anyone. So they created the limited series Opel Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition which features revised turbos and a modifed engine management in order to raise the output from the 1.6-litre engine from 141 kW/192 hp to 154 kW/210 hp.
Maximum torque has also been raised from 250 Nm to 280 Nm when the overboost function is activated, and as a result the small hatch is now able to sprint from 0 to 100 Km/h in 6.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 280 Km/h.
2012 Nissan Versa Sedan Price
The 2012 Nissan Versa Sedan has just got priced. The Japanese automaker’s entry-level compact sedan starts at 10,990 USD and some of its improved features include a new dual injector system and sub-planetary CVT design, a new interior that received a boost in quality (don’t expect to see the a competitor for the S class here), as well a redesigned dashboard and a new instrument panel.
Even though the new Versa Sedan is 0.6 inch shorter than the previous generation model, with a wheelbase and width the same as before (102,4 inch and 66.7 inch respectively), the automaker says there is now more legroom than in premium sedans like the Lexus LS460, BMW 5-series or Mercedes E Class.
Suzuki Kizashi Hybrid Concept
Suzuki has unveiled a gas-electric concept based on the Kizashi at this year’s 2011 NYIAS called the EcoCharge .
The idea behind the Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge Hybrid Concept was to ‘attain substantial gains in fuel economy without the traditional sacrifices in drivability required with today’s mid-size hybrid sedans’ and the result is a car that runs by using a 2.-litre inline-four cylinder gasoline engine linked to an advanced electric propulsion system consisting of a liquid-cooled 15-kW motor/generator unit and a 115-volt air-cooled lithium-ion battery.
