2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Nurburgring Record
Chevrolet has taken its latest generation sports car, the 2012 Corvette ZR1 to the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany, which they consider, like prety much everyone else, the ultimate validation for a car.
The results? well as you’ll see for yourself in the video below, the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 managed to lap the world’s most demanding track in a 7:19.63, which means more than 6.0 seconds faster than the old Corvette (7:26.40).
Jaguar XKR S Review Video
In their most recent review video, the crew from Autocar got to play with the new Jaguar XKR S on both twisty public roads as well as on a wet track, and predictably enough they were impressed by this sportier version of the XKR introduced in Geneva in March.
Featuring a modified 5.0-litre V8, a couple of tweaks to the chassis (stiffer suspension) and various aerodynamic improvements, the Jaguar XKR S is a machine that can unleash 550 PS and 680 Nm of torque, and when it comes to performance, thie British sports coupe can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist Priced at 29960 USD
GM has announced pricing for the 2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist and the fact they are now offering a new 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine for the based model LaCrosse and a revised 3.6-litre V6 on the range topping version.
With an estimated efficiency level around 25 percent higher than the current model which produces 182 HP, the 2012 Buick LaCrosse eAssist price starts at 29,960 USD without the 860 USD delivery charge, and GM’s official consumption figures for it are 37 mpg on the highway (up from 30 mpg).
2012 Mercedes ML Video
Daimler has also published the first official presentation video for the 2012 Mercedes ML today, trough which it informs of the main highlights, both in terms of visual changes and technology upgrades for the new generation SUV.
When compared to the model it replaces, the 2012 Mercedes ML is strongly oriented towards a drastic reduction in consumption, as it now requires with around 25 percent less fuel across the range. The exterior has also been restyled, while maintaining the familiar aspect of the M Class, while the interior has been refined even further in order to offer the same comfort level as a premium sedan.
Audi R18 TDI Video
The prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race will kick off on Saturday, June 11 but until we get to see the actual battle between diesels, Audi is presenting a promo video for the R18 TDI through which it highlights some of the changes that were made in comparison with the old R15 TDI.
Some of these changes include Audi returning to the close canopy architecture, a solution which has been abandoned since 1999, and also the fact that the car is now powered by a 3.7-litre TDI V6 instead of the old V10.
Road Test: BMW 1 Series M

Hyundai Elantra Coupe Rumor
A recent rumor brought to us by InsideLine mentions Hyundai’s plans of introducing the Elantra Coupe at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Korean automaker’s move would represent a new competitor for the Honda Civic Coupe, with power provided by the same 148 HP 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine currently fitted on the sedan.
Apart from the Elantra Coupe, Hyundai is also reportedly working on the Elantra R-Spec, a more powerful version which is most likely going to hit the market in 2012.
Mazda BT 50 Freestyle Cab Preview
Mazda confirmed their plans of introducing a new version of their BT 50 pickup at this year’s Australian International Motor Show (AIMS). They call this new version the Freestyle Cab, and have already offered a pair of images as a preview, before the car debuts in Melbourne on July 1st.
Using the same door configuration as the RX8, meaning rear-hinged doors that eliminate the need of a pillar and which create an wide opening measuring 1,408 mm, the Mazda BT 50 Freestyle Cab features a pair of rear seats with cushions that have been extended by 50 mm and seat-backs heightened by 128 mm.
2012 Opel Astra GTC Video
The first 2012 Opel Astra GTC video has also been unveiled by GM’s European division shortly after the sporty hatch was presented through details and images yesterday.
The footage further underlines the Astra GTC’s aim towards young individuals who are dynamic and simply love to drive places. As we already noted, the GTC version is slightly longer, wider and lower than the regular Astra, featuring the automaker’s HiPerStrut suspension at the front and a Watt’s link at the back.
