Opel Astra ecoFLEX with 130 HP and 99g of CO2 per Km
Opel enhances its Astra ecoFLEX range with a new engine, which according to them, will enable the hatchback variant to develop 130 HP (96 kW) and emit just 99g of CO2 per Km.
This engine is a 1.7-litre CDTI turbo diesel which delivers a maximum of 300 Nm of torque via a 6-speed manual transmission and which helps the Astra ecoFLEX consume just 3.7-litres of fuel per 100 Km (combined cycle).
Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M conversion by Anderson Germany
Dusseldorf based tuner Anderson Germany presents their latest aftermarket program, this time based on the Ferrari F430 Spider which after receiving a series of styling upgrades and a boost in performance, has been turned into the Scuderia Spider 16M Conversion Edition.
Apart from covering the car in Hyper Black paint, Anderson Germany has fitted the Italian sports car with a front air dam, new side extensions, a redesigned rear apron and a custom exhaust system, plus the Scuderia Stripes are now made from carbon and feature a yellow border.
2012 BMW M5 Nurburgring time
According to various sources the Bavarian automaker has unveiled the new BMW M5 Nurburgring taxi, during the M Festival in Germany this weekend, and the car is expected to start its official duties on the famous track in 2012.
But how fast is the 2012 BMW M5 on the actual Nurburgring race track? Well based on the numbers published by Fastestlaps.com, the 560 HP, twin-turbo V8 powered saloon has managed to lap the Nordschleife in 7 minutes 55 seconds, which means it is 1 second quicker than the Porsche Panamera Turbo and 15 seconds faster than the Mercedes E63 AMG.
2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Edition
The third, and final instalment of Transformers, Dark of the Moon will begin rolling in theaters on June 29th, so GM did not miss the opportunity of launching a new Bumblebee version Chevrolet Camaro to fans living in the US, Canada, China, Japan, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East.
The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Transformers Edition applies to the Rally Yellow painted 2LT and 2SS version and consists of 3,000 USD worth of goodies such as black rally stripes covering the hood, roof and deck-lid, a high-wing rear spoiler, 20 inch black painted wheels wrapped in hi-performance summer tires and the Autobot Shield logos.
Monster Tajima sets new record at Pikes Peak
Monster Tajima’s dream of breaking the 10 minutes barrier at Pikes Peak has been accomplished as the 60 years old man managed to set a new record at the International Hill Climb of 9 minutes 51.278 seconds in his Suzuki SX4 Climb Special.
With 925 horsepower as his disposal, Nobuhiro Tajima has smashed his previous record of 10 minutes 01.41 seconds, and as the video will show, he really pushed that car to the limits, with water spewing out of the radiator as he came to the finish.
Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Styling
When it comes to exclusivity, British car maker Bentley wants to go the extra mile, and this time they are doing that by offering customers the possibility of equipping their continental GT with the new Mulline Styling package.
This Mulline ‘Classic Pack’ comprises of unique elements like a new front bumper splitter, strakes integrated into the front air intakes, side extension blades and a rear diffuser. All these components are made from high-gloss, black carbon fiber and are complemented by a series of options that include a carbon fibre rear spoiler, exterior mirror casings, 21 inch black ‘Elegant’ alloys and dark mesh front wing vents.
Ferrari 458 Italia vs McLaren MP4 12C Video
The McLaren M14 12C has understandably received a lot of attention lately, especially from the British media who was curious to finding out where does the spiritual successor of the McLaren F1 stand in comparison with today’s modern supercars.
Tiff Needell and Jason Plato from FifthGear were also curious to see what the MP4 12C is all about, so they decided to test it against its main rival, the Ferrari 458 Italia.
They both drive each of the cars, but while Tiff wants to see which of the two is more fan to drive, Jason puts his racing hat on in oder to find out which is faster.
Top Gear Season 17 Episode 1
The Top Gear Season 17 Episode 1 aired on BBC2 and BBC HD last night, but for those of you who missed it or live in countries where you can’t catch it we have a partial solution. As you might suspect that solution is called YouTube, and we have a couple of videos showing almost everything you’ve missed.
So what does Top Gear’s Episode 1 bring? well we have Hammond testing the 10 tone, South African built Marauder, an armored vehicle which is 21 ft long and 9 ft high, then there is Clarkson who reviews the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, and May who meets with gold medal winning British Olympian Amy Williams and drives the MINI Countryman WRC.
Video: 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Nurburgring Lap Time
After offering proof of what the Corvette ZR1 can do on the Nurburgring, GM has released a new video, this time featuring the 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 lapping the most demanding track in the world.
Again the new generation is much faster than the previous model, in fact with 20 seconds faster than the old record set in 2005, as the 2012 Z06 has lapped the ring in 7 minutes 22.68 seconds, an impressive time which is only 3 seconds slower than what the 638 HP 2012 ZR1 managed to achieve on the same track almost two weeks ago.
Video: Honda CRZ Mugen vs Ariel Atom Mugen
Honda’s official tuning partner, Mugen has recently created a one-off sports-hybrid based on the CRZ to which it added a supercharger in order to produce 200 bhp. The Honda CRZ Mugen has also been fitted with a louder exhaust, and a series of carbon fiber components to make it extra light. Honda says the Mugen CRZ hybrid is as fast as the Civic Type R, so AutoExpress decided to take it for a spin around the track and see if it’s as sporty as Honda claims.
Apart from that AutoExpess has tested another Mugen car, this time a bit more extreme – the Ariel Atom.
