As you know Renault will bring back to life its Alpine brand. The road car will be developed by the French car maker and Caterham and it will be unveiled by 2016.
Until then, Alpine will compete this year in Le Mans 24 Hour race and in the European Le Mans Series. The cars that will race in the LMP2 category will feature an Alpine chassis and will be powered by a 500 hp engine signed by Nissan.
This will be a big stepfor the French producer because it marks the end of a 35 year absence from endurance racing. Between 1963 and 1978 Alpine participated in the Le Mans 24 Hour race and it used a total of 55 factory racing cars in the whole process.
