Norway officials have decided to develop an impressive project. They will develop the first network of underwater bridges in the fjords areas. Why did they not choose the old-school bridges? Simple. Because the fjords are very deep and very large. Plus, the weather is changing to fast and the old-school bridges won’t be reliable.
The submerged floating bridges will be positioned at 100 feet below the water, suspended by floating pontoons. Other cables could secure the tubes to the fjord floor for even more stability. Two tubes, allowing traffic to flow in each direction, make up the assembly.
For now we don’t know how many underwater bridges Norway is planning but the government has told us they will invest 25 billion USD into this project. It could be completed by 2035.
