Mitsubishi revealed the new D:X concept van at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The new concept is meant to foreshadow the Delica of the future. The Mitsubishi D:X Concept is described as an electric crossover MPV with the roomy interior of an MPV and the road characteristics of an SUV.

The D:X blends off-roader features such as all-wheel drive and raised suspension with more traditional minivan features such as sliding doors and seating for six in a 2+2+2 seating arrangement. The front seats rotate, and there is a front-mounted camera that gives a virtual see-through hood to improve outward visibility. Front and rear skid plates, as well as side-step guards, provide some off-road protection.

Mitsubishi did not provide much information about the powertrain. It’s a plug-in hybrid with an electric four-wheel-drive system.

Mitsubishi also did not reveal any manufacturing plans. Unfortunately, like the present Delica, we do not anticipate it to come stateside.
