A stunning concept unveiled in Frankfurt today comes from Daimler who brought the Mercedes F 125  F-CELL Plug-in HYBRID, a car which according to them represents a "redefinition of automotive luxury".
This fuel-cell electric plug-in hybrid uses a hydrogen storage technology, and four electric motors which provide a total of 308 horsepower (230 kW) thanks to which the F 125 accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds and hits a top speed of 220 Km/h.
Most importantly however is the fact that the Mercedes F 125 Concept has a driving range of no less than 1,000 Km due to its floor tank which can store 7.5 kg of hydrogen, while when running on just electricity, the car can cover around 50 Km.
Apart from its lightweight bodyshell and futuristic look design, the Mercedes F 125 Concept features gullwing doors, and an interior that is simply packed with technology. Some of the ‘alien’ technology includes a control and display concept based on touch, speech and
hand-gestures, displays that use 3D and projector beams to open various visual possibilities and a new generation of telematics that allow Internet-based voice control, extensive remote control and various entertainment ans social functions.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Weber, member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG said that "With the F 125! we want to show that large, comfortable and safe saloon
cars have an excellent future, partly because they are able to operate
with no emissions. The legend that is the S-Class will continue into the
future thanks to intelligent solutions that always have the customer’s
needs in mind" "The new research vehicle illustrates and underlines this claim to
leadership with innovative ideas and traditional Mercedes strengths in
the areas of design, safety, comfort and performance."
