AutoExpress went to Seville, at the Monteblanco circuit and tested the new Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, a car which rivals the BMW M3 Coupe and the Audi RS5.
As you may remember, Daimler’s new flagship coupe was unveiled at the 2011 NYIAS in April, and under its skin there is a newly developed 6.3-litre V8 powerplant developing 457 hp and 600 Nm of torque, or a massive 487 HP when the car is equipped with the AMG Performance Package.
All that power gets transffered to the wheels via a seven-speed Speedshift MCT gearbox, partially responsible for the C63 AMG Coupe’s 4.4/4.3 seconds 0 to 60 mph acceleration time and limited top speed of 155 mph. The car requires 12 litres of fuel every 100 Km and its starting price tag is 72,590 Euros.
Apart from all the facts, what does AutoExpress think about this new 3-door muscle car, after spending time with it on a deserted test track?
Well essentially the Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe isn’t quite as sharp to drive as the BMW M3 Coupe, but is does however have huge amounts of character, and it is also more fun to drive than the Audi RS5.
