The Mazda6 is one of the most loved models from the Japanese car maker along with MX-5. To impress the audience at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show, Mazda has unveiled the brand new Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar, the circuit version of the sedan.
Three of this new diesel powered Mazda6 will take to the track on January 26 at 2013 Rolex 24 in the Grand-Am GX class. The car unveiled in Detroit features the number 70 and is sponsored by SpeedSource, an old Mazda motorsport partner.
"We’re thrilled to be starting a new chapter of Mazda Motorsports history with the race debut of our all-new Mazda6 racecar, powered by our all-new production based SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine. Our long-time engineering partner, SpeedSource, has led the technical development of the program in hand with Mazda engineers in Japan and the U.S.," noted John Doonan, motorsports director, Mazda North American Operations.
