A few weeks ago we have heard some rumors about a Mazda3 equipped with a turbocharged petrol unit. We didn’t think that this will be valid, but the Japanese car manufacturer has come with the confirmation.

On July 8 we will meet the first turbocharged Mazda3 of the current generation. The car will be equipped with a petrol unit, but we don’t know what engine will be placed under the hood.

According to some sources there are some many chances to see the same 2.5 liter turbocharged unit with 250 horsepower and 434 Nm peak of torque placed under the hood of the current CX-5 model.

There might be some power modifications but this is a plausible situation.

The second one is a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine currently used on the Mazda3 TCR model. Yes, the unit delivers more than 300 horsepower but this engine was designed to compete on racetracks. Also there are small chances to see such a powerful plant in the Mazda3 judging by the fact that the Japanese car manufacturer said it doesn’t have plans for a Mazdaspeed variant.

The best thing to do now is to wait for the official presentation.
