Mazda2 is ready to tackle the small segment in Europe. The Japanese car will be available at the end of this year with prices to be announced.
Exterior
Designed around the KODO philosophy, the new generation Mazda2 is the first Mazda that comes with a new four-lamp LED design to go with the dynamic round signature of the low-slung headlamps. It also has ten body colours, including two all-new hues: Dynamic Blue (sporty) and Smoky Rose (stylish).
The trim levels will be available with 15-inch steel wheels or with 15- to 16-inch alloy’s.
Interior
The new Mazda2 interior features new materials, a better finish and some new gadgets that will favour the teens. Among them is a 7-inch display on the dash above the centre stack (for communications
and infotainment functionality) operable either via the optimised rotary commander on the centre console, voice command or touchscreen, energy-efficient climate control system, rear parking sensors, Mazda’s in-car connectivity system, which works with iPhone or Android smartphones and Active Driving Display – a segment first – that projects the most important real-time driving data directly into the driver’s forward field of view. The other driving information appears in the sporty new instrument cluster.
Engine
The engine range will include a 1.5 liter diesel with 105 hp and a fuel consumption of just 3.4 liter/100 km (69 mpg) and another petrol unit, also with a 1.5 liter capacity, but derived in two power versions – an entry-level 75 hp SkyActiv-G and a 115 hp unit with 4.9 liter/100 km (48 mpg) average consumption.
