World Car Awards has announced the winners of the 2016 World Car of the Year. The event took place during the New York Auto Show and the jury of 73 international automotive journalists decided to give the title to the Mazda MX-5.
The Japanese model managed to beat the Mercedes-Benz GLC or the Audi A4. More than that, Mazda MX-5 also managed to grab the 2016 World Car Design of the Year title.
The 2016 World Green Car of the Year was won by Toyota Mirai which managed to score more points than BMW 330e, Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius, and Volkswagen Passat GTE. The 2016 World Performance Car of the Year title was offered to Audi R8 Coupe. The German model managed to beat the Chevrolet Camaro, Honda Civic Type R, Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe, and Range Rover Sport SVR.
Last, but not least is the 2016 World Luxury Car of the Year. The all-new BMW 7 Series managed to take this title leaving behind the Audi Q7, Jaguar XF, Mercedes GLE Coupe, and Volvo XC90.
