Maserati is preparing a surprise for its fans at this years Paris Motor Show. The italian manufacturer plans to introduce a fresh new concept, about which little it is known. Inside sources are talking about a two-seater coupe, capable of competing with the big boys: Porsche 911 and Ferrari 458 Italia.

Harald Wester, Maserati’s CEO, talked about a new mid-engined supercar in June, referring to it as a brother of the current Alfa Romeo 4C. The car should have a maximum weight of just 1200 kilograms and a V6 engine, developed by Ferrari. The engine will be powerful enough to replace the current V8.

The italians are expecting 442 hp, which could get the Maserati from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. That is considerably faster than the current GranTurismo, and enough to keep up it the german competition.

We will see what plans has Maserati for it’s new coupe in just three weeks, when the Paris Motorshow opens the gates for the public.
