The London G-Wiz is a special edition model developed by UK’s G-Wiz retailer, GoingGreen which commemorates the electric vehicle’s association with the city of London.
The London G-Wiz was designed by ContainerPLUS, and the car has its first public appearance on the Oxford Street at the Shop West Enf VIP Day on November 27th.
GoingGreen has sold over 1,000 electrical G-Wiz cars to customers living in London since 2004, and the vehicle is now associated with UK’s capital. London’s Mayor, Boris Johnson said the he wants ‘London to become the
electric vehicle capital of Europe, so it seems fitting that G-Wiz has
encapsulated iconic sights and scenes of our great city in such a
creative way. We have recently launched Source London to help more
people take the electric option in the future.’
The London G-Wiz comes with alloys wheels, a leather interior, DAB radio and Bluetooth, and it offers a driving range of up to 48 miles, and enables top speeds of 50 mph.
The London G-Wiz price is 12,995 GBP.
GoinGreen press release :
GoinGreen, the retailer of the UK’s best-selling electric vehicle,
the G-Wiz, has commissioned a limited edition design to commemorate the
vehicle’s close association with London; the London G-Wiz. Designed by
multidisciplinary art and design collective ContainerPLUS, the London
G-Wiz is a unique, fantastical and surreal celebration of London and had
its first public outing on Saturday 27th November at the pedestrian only Shop West End VIP Day where it had a prime position on Oxford Street.
Rudi Schogger, managing director of GoinGreen said: ‘London has taken
the G-Wiz to heart and there are now well over 1,000 on the city’s
streets. GoinGreen is the pioneer of zero emissions electric driving in
London, launching the G-Wiz in 2004. The vehicle is now recognisably
associated with the Capital and has raised London’s profile as a leader
in the adoption of electric vehicles. Having already done two design
collaborations with Eley Kishimoto and Ella Doran, we thought it about
time that we commissioned a design to seal the relationship between
G-Wiz and London’.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: ‘I want London to become the
electric vehicle capital of Europe, so it seems fitting that G-Wiz has
encapsulated iconic sights and scenes of our great city in such a
creative way. We have recently launched Source London to help more
people take the electric option in the future.’
‘To us London has always felt like a kaleidoscope of the incongruous
and the ludicrous. The new never really obliterates the old; instead
everything balances on top of each other precariously. So many stories
intersect in this city, millions of people – all building a version of
their own reality. A topsy-turvy city, eccentric, outrageous and utterly
delightful. The idiosyncratic and joyful spirit of the G-wiz, as well
as the environmental outlook of the company behind this vehicle,
immediately struck a chord. The collaboration with GoinGreen on the
London G-Wiz was fuelled by great enthusiasm on both sides,’ said Luise
Vormittag of ContainerPLUS.
The limited edition London G-Wiz is a G-Wiz i with design by
ContainerPLUS, alloy wheels, leather interior, DAB radio and Bluetooth.
It has a two year warranty, a top speed of up to 50mph and a range of up
to 48 miles. The London G-Wiz is £12,995 and it can be ordered at www.goingreen.co.uk.
