Kalmar Automotive, a modifier and restorer of bespoke sports cars and specially designed adventure vehicles, has unveiled its first water-cooled “Adventure Range” 911. The Kalmar RS-6 is the company’s latest robust all-terrain 911, designed to challenge notions of what a classic sports car can achieve.

The Danish specialist claims that the RS-6 is a response to the escalating pricing of 964 and 993 donor vehicles, providing a more inexpensive entrance point into the world of off-road 911s.

After 12 months of testing, the car has made its debut. The RS-6 had its maiden outing in the Kalmar Spirit of Speed event in the Arctic Circle, lapping ice lakes and woodlands in temperatures as low as -35 degrees Celsius (-31 degrees Fahrenheit).

The improvement begins with some more power, increasing the output to at least 300 horsepower. Kalmar has several tuning options that may take it up to 500 horsepower.

Also include a custom limited-slip rear differential and a specifically designed suspension arrangement with innovative inverted front shocks absorbers. This gives the RS-6 a ground clearance of 210-millimeter (8.3 inches), which is the same as a second-generation Porsche Cayenne.

The car is equipped with 16-inch thin alloy wheels and either all-terrain or spiked Michelin winter tires designed for the World Rally Championship, as well as strong underbelly protection.

All interior sound deadening and trim are removed and replaced with what Kalmar refers to as “purposeful upgrades”. A pair of Recaro sports or race bucket seats will be onboard. Those who intend to race their RS-6 can specify a full roll cage, fly-off handbrake, and competition timing system.
