Jaguar Land Rover has confirms plans to build a new plant in Slovakia. The new manufacturing facility will be located in Nitra and it will be a world-class factory. The new facility will be built at a cost of $1.5 (£1) billion and will have around 2.800 employees.

The Nitra factory will produce a range of all-new models from Jaguar and Land Rover. The construction will begin next year and the first models are scheduled to come off the assembly line in late 2018. The Nitra plant will be able to deliver 150.000 cars per year but this could be expanded in the future.

Slovakia has a premium automotive sector with more than 300 suppliers close to the plant. As a result, the decision to create a facility here should be a good one. More than that, the Jaguar Land Rover officials said the Nitra plant will be able to build even more exciting new models.

"Jaguar Land Rover is delighted today to welcome Slovakia into our family. The new factory will complement our existing facilities in the UK, China, India and Brazil and marks the next step in the company’s strategy to become a truly global business", said JLR CEO Dr Ralf Speth.
