A recent rumor brought to us by InsideLine mentions Hyundai’s plans of introducing the Elantra Coupe at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
The Korean automaker’s move would represent a new competitor for the Honda Civic Coupe, with power provided by the same 148 HP 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine currently fitted on the sedan.
Apart from the Elantra Coupe, Hyundai is also reportedly working on the Elantra R-Spec, a more powerful version which is most likely going to hit the market in 2012.
For the 2012 Hyundai Elantra R-Spec the company will choose the same 1.6-litre turbo unit found in the 2012 Veloster, which means the output level will be 208 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque.
If these rumors turn out to be true, then we should be back with official photos and details regarding the Eleantra Coupe and R Spec right before the LA Auto Show will open its doors in November.
