When everybody was expecting the new generation Civic Type R during this year Paris Motor Show, Honda disappoints its fans with another concept, not the production version of the hot-hatch.
The car will be unveiled later this year. The Paris Motor Show visitors will be the most extreme and high-performing Type R in the 22 year history of the red ”H” badge.
Under the hood, the concept will feature a 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine from Honda’s next-generation Earth Dreams Technology range of units, producing more than 280 PS. The unit is complying with strict Euro 6 emissions regulations while using a six-speed manual transmission.
New Type R will mark the debut of the new ‘+R’ button, capable of improving engine responsiveness with torque-mapping changed to a more aggressive and performance-focused setting. Road presence is also improved with a new four-point Adaptive Damper System that has been developed specifically for the new Type R.
The new generation Civic Type R was developed by Honda`s European division, with the official production starting this year in Swindon, UK, plant. First units will arrive in dealerships in Spring 2015.
