GM press release:
GM Daewoo Auto & Technology (GM Daewoo) announced today that it will start sales of the new Veritas large sedan, which features a popular new engine and transmission, on April 1.
The 3.6-liter SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection) engine, which is available in the Veritas for the first time, made the list of Ward’s 10 Best Engines in both 2008 and 2009. The engine is also
applied in the Cadillac CTS, GM’s popular luxury sedan.
The engine injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber at high pressure, resulting in great improvements in maximum power (from 252 ps to 277 ps) and maximum torque (from 34 kg.m to 36 kg.m). The engine has proved its eco-friendliness, satisfying new KULEV (Korea Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle) requirements.
Also available is a new six-speed automatic transmission that is perfectly harmonized with the new engine. The transmission allows for spontaneous gear shifting as well as excellent driving.
The Veritas also features two new GM technologies: Active Select and Sport Shift. Active Select gives the driver the choice of shifting gears automatically or manually, which enables customized driving. Sport Shift enables more powerful and spirited driving.
Paired together, the new powertrain combo achieves excellent fuel efficiency of 8.7 km/L and outstanding durability.
GM’s cutting-edge ESC (Electronic Stability Control) technology, which integrates all safety systems to protect passengers in the event of an emergency situation, is offered in all trim levels as standard equipment.
The Veritas comes in three trim levels – Deluxe, Premium and Luxury – which are priced at KRW 50,300,000, KRW 56,700,000 and KRW 60,300,000, respectively
