If you are a Mustang convertible lover, we have a pretty bad news for you. According to Hau Thai-Tang, Ford Chief Product Platform, the Blue Ovel doesn’t intend to build a convertible version of the current Shelby GT500.

“When we designed the (S550 platform Mustang) we really looked at the high end and projected what we’ve historically been able to do. The GT500 I think we projected for. It’s towards the top end of the capabilities of (S550)… one of the things we didn’t do was a convertible variant for that reason. You have to find the bandwidth of the architecture”, said Hau Thai-Tang.

As a result, the most convertible Mustang that you can order (from factory, of course) is the GT Convertible. As you know, the model uses a V8 5.0 liter petrol unit which can deliver 460 horsepower and 569 Nm peak of torque.
