Fiat has just published the first official photos and details of the new Panda 4×4. The Italian crossover will be officially revealed at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.
The Fiat Panda 4×4 is 3,680mm long, 1,670mm wide, 1,600mm
tall and rides on a 2,300mm long wheelbase. The Italian designers added a few specific accessories which give a new look on the outside. We talk about the chunky door sills, the wider wheel arches and the redesigned bumpers. Also, the Fiat Panda 4×4 can be ordered with two new special body colors: Sicilia Orange
and Toscana Green.
The 4×4 model comes with newly designed 15 inch alloy rims, shod in 175/65 R15 tires. In the cabin the Italian model received a new frame around the dashboard and a redesigned center console.
As standard the Fiat Panda 4×4 comes with an ESC (Electronic
Stability Control) system with ELD (Electronic Locking Differential). Because the new crossover was designed to ride on tougher roads, Fiat’s engineers have also
equipped the Panda 4×4 with the "Torque on demand" transmission system.
This is a permanent four-wheel drive system controlled by an ECU which offers
traction according to road grip conditions.
The Fiat Panda 4×4 will use two power sources. We talk about the 0.9 TwinAir Turbo which produces 84 HP and the 1.3 MultiJet II which develops 74 HP. Both units are available with a six-speed manual gearbox and with Start&Stop technology.
