The American journalists from MotorTrend have recently created a drag race in which 11 of today’s best sports cars accelerate side by side on an abandoned airstrip.
Among them there is also the Ferrari 458 Italia, a car which MotorTrend crowned as the Best Drivers Car in 2011. But if you think the 458 Italia won this 11 car drag race, you would be wrong.
Even though MotorTrend admits this isn’t a serious test, and was manly staged as a show off, lets sum up the contenders and see what they are capable of.
So the cars include the BMW 1 Series M (333 HP ,369 lb-ft with overboost), the Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca (444 HP, 380 lb-ft), the Porsche 011 GT3 RS (450 HP, 317 lb-ft), the Chevy Corvette Z06 (505 HP, 470 lb-ft), the Ferrari 458 Italia (557 HP, 398 lb-ft), the Nissan GTR (530 HP, 448 lb-ft), the Audi R8 GT (560 HP, 398 lb-ft), the Mercedes SLS AMG (563 HP, 479 lb-ft), the Lexus LFA (552 HP, 354 lb-ft), the Porsche Cayman R (330 HP, 273 lb-ft) and the Lotus Evora S (345 HP, 295 lb-ft).
Which was the one to cross the quarter mile mark first? Follow the jump and hit play to see for yourself.
